NOTES FROM LIFE – CHIBUEZE UZOIGWE

TO: MY DEAR FRIEND: SMT

Dear SMT,

Today, I learned something peculiar.

“Difficulty exists in hard work,

It’s hard to start and win.

Sometimes, you will need to be obsessed and hard on yourself to win.”

Here’s what this means for you:

In your journey to success, you will be faced with a whole lot of problems.

You’ll have to take that course that’s boring – but necessary.

You’ll have to register that business that’s stressful – but essential.

What you should remember each time you face such situation:

- Nothing good comes easy.

Focus on the benefits of the actions, not the actions itself.

Instead of talking about the painful, stressful process of registering a business…

Think of the success that will come after the years of “hard work” has paid off.

Pick a book right now,

And write down that essential thing – that looks like hard work

Beside it, write the end goal:

For example:

Necessary: Registering a business

End Goal – Building a $10M business that will serve people the best coffee in the whole of Abuja.

I call this mind reframe.

Sometimes, you’ll never hit that target, because you were waiting for the hard work to pass by.

But it doesn’t happen that way.

Forget the ludicrous claim that this generation makes in “smart work”

There’s no such thing as smart work.

It’s a delusion that makes you believe you can achieve what you want without putting in the work.

But forget that “work” no matter how little, is hard work.

Hard work isn’t necessarily doing something stressful, but “what we think is stressful”

So, for Lebron James, basketball is easy work

But for you, it is hard work, because in your mind “you think it is stressful”

So, the term hard work in reality is what we want it to be.

That’s why you need that mind reframe to realize that it’s not hard work, but necessary work.

Necessary work doesn’t depend on the mind, but on the realities of life.

If you aren’t a business owner, or investor, you’ll probably slave for someone all the day of your life.

You don’t need to think it, before it becomes necessary work to gain your own freedom.

On the bright side, you can convert necessary work into easy work in your mind.

Instead of turning it into hard work.

Still wondering how (I shared the simple framework earlier on in this post).

You do realize you don’t need much to win in the game of life.

You need to discipline yourself.

Imagine you are playing soccer, and it’s only one rule that matters – win.

What are you going to do?

Leave the pitch because the match is against – Manchester United?

Or stay and play the game even if it’s against – Barcelona?

It all depends on the mind reframe you have.

Same thing applies to life.

You either win or give silly excuses.

SMT,

There’s no need to run from the hard work.

It’s always now or never.
